Today America’s leading news network, CNN, has teamed up with the world’s #1 social networking website, Facebook, to broadcast live coverage of Michael Jackson’s funeral. Although only 17,500 tickets were provided for the ceremony, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, millions are expected to watch the event online. The partnership between CNN and Facebook has created an interactive environment for MJ fans, allowing users to communicate in real-time on CNN.com. Michael Jackson has nearly 7 million fans on Facebook (more than any other public figure), and countless groups have been created in his honor.

It’s the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, and yet again NBC is broadcasting tennis match coverage with a severe tape delay. In fact, matches won’t even air until a winner has been announced, up to five hours after the first swing. NBC owns exclusive rights to broadcast Wimbledon coverage until 1 p.m., after which ESPN regains control and may opt (and would opt) to air the tournament live. If you aren’t interested in waiting five hours to learn the outcome of these tennis matches, and in case the heated battles don’t extend beyond 1 p.m., the Internet offers a great solution! Unfortunately, live streaming of the tournament is not available online, but live score widgets ensure that you can at least know who is winning each match, and by how much. By visiting www.Wimbledon.org, you can track your favorite tennis player as he or she strives for victory.
The winner of the 2009 Wimbledon Championships will be awarded 12.5 million pounds, which is equivalent to more than $20 million USD.

After a three-year battle with anal cancer, former “Charlie’s Angel” Farrah Fawcett is back in the hospital – this time, it may be for good. The television star, who began her career in the 1960s making commercials for consumer products, has reportedly ‘taken a turn for the worse.’ According to Extra, Fawcett’s 90-year-old father James is rushing to her bedside, as she may not have long to live. Fawcett recently learned that the cancer had spread to her liver, and she was treated with chemotherapy.
Online reports suggest that Fawcett’s incarcerated son Redmond – currently serving time for drug charges – will be temporarily released, allowing him to say goodbye. Ryan O’Neal, the 62-year-old actress’ longtime partner and the father of Redmond, vows to marry his lover before she passes. “Farrah is fighting for her life, but we will wed as soon as she can say yes. Maybe we can just nod her head,” he said.
Farrah Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006.

Mayer and Hilton have been publically disputing the incident via Twitter, where Mayer has called Hilton’s handling of the altercation into question. When did the Internet become such a powerful forum for debate?
Kirstie Alley, 58-year-old TV star, was pleased with Mayer’s criticism of the gossip blogger, who on many accounts has made fun of her recent weight gain. Perez Hilton is notorious for operating “Hollywood’s Most-Hated Website,” and has thus stepped on many famous toes. Mayer insinuated that karma that has led to Hilton’s recent assault, and that he lacked “the situational awareness not to get in someone’s face.”
